What is synchronised play, or "hand for hand" play in Poker?
Certain stages of a scheduled tournament may be played "hand for hand", which means that all tables will complete their current hand before the next hand is dealt. This is usually done when the cash prizes start being awarded, or when there is a significant jump in prizes. It is done to ensure fairness, so there is no advantage for players to stall the action in order to obtain a higher finish. If one table finishes a hand quickly, there may be a long pause before the next hand is dealt, while waiting for all of the remaining tables to finish their hands.
